Choral Evensong
Choral Evensong follows the liturgy in the Book of Common Prayer, which uses the traditional Evening Prayer Service used for hundreds of years. It celebrates the close of the day in sacred song, chant, and music.
Choral Evensong is typically held in the late winter/early spring each year in the main church. The next Evensong will be on Sunday, March 13th, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the main church. If you have never attended this beautiful service, it is an experience not to be missed.
The Washington National Cathedral holds an Evensong service five times a week that is open to the public. The BBC has, since 1926, broadcast a weekly service of Choral Evensong which can be heard on the internet or the radio.
