"Music is prayer said twice"
St. Augustine
354-430

Music is an important part of the spiritual life within our church community. The music program at Our Saviour is broad and rich and truly offers something for anyone who would like to be involved.  All levels of accomplishment are represented, including community professionals, lifetime musicians, novices and beginners.  All join together to make a joyful sound unto the Lord.

The Adult Choir
Director Karen Dalton leads the outstanding adult choir of over thirty members. The adult choir performs anthems and preludes ranging from Renaissance motets to modern pieces by composers such as Jane Marshall and John Rutter.  The choir sings at the 11:00 a.m. service each Sunday between September and June, at special occasions throughout the year, and at the annual Choral Evensong, which generally occurs in mid March.

The COOS Celebration Choir
The COOS Celebration Choir is under the direction of local music educator and choral conductor, Donna Rehorn.  This choir sings every other week at the 9:00 a.m. Family Service and, on occasion, special services throughout the year.  The repertoire for this choir is varied and includes traditional music, world music, gospel and some contemporary music as well.  Rehearsals occur each Sunday morning at 8:15-9:00 a.m. in the youth choir room.

The Canterbury Bells
Karen Dalton leads the Canterbury Bells, our three-octave handbell choir. The handbell choir rings at Sunday services throughout the year, and occasionally performs at assisted living centers throughout the area.  Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings at 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. in the bell room at Lucia House.

St. Nicholas Choir
The Saint Nicholas Choir, under the direction of Donna Rehorn, is a choir for children in grades 2-6.  The children rehearse each Sunday at
11:00 – 11:30 a.m. in the youth choir room following Church School.  They sing once or twice a month and for special services.  Repertoire includes a variety of music ranging from traditional sacred music to spirituals.

Children's Music Program
Donna Rehorn also leads the children's music time each Sunday morning.  This music program is part of the Church School program.  Children meet in the youth choir room, prior to Church School, to sing and learn new music.  Much of the music is integrated with the Church School curriculum, and includes songs that are sometimes sung during the children’s homily during the Family Service at 9:00 a.m.  All children  attending Church School at Church of Our Saviour take part in this program.
